PastMost of the ancient Egyptians religion came form scripts on monuments and tombs. They were polytheistic, so they believed in multiple gods like Re, Amon-re, Osiris, and Isis. Death and afterlife was very important to the Egyptian religion. People had to prove themselves worthy for after life to the gods. Then they
would go through mummification, they would preserve the body by embalming them and wrapping them in cloth. This is so the body will be of use to the soul in the after life. They also had a book of the dead that had potions and spells for the body and soul. |
Present90% of Egypt today are sunni muslims. Islamic religion is very much involved in this kind of religion and the peoples daily life, like the way they dress, eat, they prey frequently, and always refer back top the gods wanting. The people have to prey 5 times daily, and Fridays are the Islamic day of worship. The designated place to worship is the Mosque
The other 10% of the Egypt population are Christians, which is the largest Egyptian minority. Their designated day of worship is Sunday, and the designated place of worship is the orthodox church. |
How past religion has impacted present religion..Present religion is very different from the past, but alike in many ways too. This is because death and the after life aren't as important to the people in Egypt, but they are still polytheistic, and religion is still a very big part of their lives.
